Chuckie and Douglas become brothers when they are adopted from the Lakeside Village animal shelter. 

It is a little rough at first. Neither dog knows why they are there. The other neighborhood dogs make fun of them for not being good enough. Upset and ashamed, the two take off to find the meaning of life together.

With the help of the neighborhood watch owls, the spy squirrels, gossipping turkeys, and other Lakeside residents, the two navigate the dangers if living in a rural community. 

When life-threatening danger suddenly strikes, who will step up and save the day?
